And the story continued from 1985 to 2008
The beautiful indoor swimming pool leading to the park was opened in 1985. In 1998, the Club Salon Astor was dedicated to the memory of hotelier Johann Jakob Astor, originally from Walldorf in Baden and founder of the world famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. In July 2001, the Mediterranean sun terrace "Piazza", the insel-café specialising in cakes and fine pastries, and the Swabian Restaurant and Wine Tavern added new brilliance to the "insel". The bridge leading to the hotel was renamed in 2005 to "Willy Mayer Bridge" and also became the "insel’s" new address. The hotel celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2008. In the same year, air conditioning was installed in all rooms and salons as well as in the roof garden. In addition to that, the roof garden terrace was newly designed. And under the management of Stephanie Landerer and her sister Patricia Mayer, the third generation of the Mayer family is carrying on its grandfather’s life work.
