Chronical of the Café- Restaurant “Royal” at the main station...

On the fourth of December 1944, the beautiful, proud "Royal" is completely destroyed as is much of the city of Heilbronn during those days. Just a few weeks later, the "Royal-Klause" is opened in the cellar of the building and quickly turns into an uncomplicated but popular meeting place for local people and newcomers. Soon after that it is followed by the Café-Restaurant "Royal" with outdoor terrace located at the main station.

Willy Mayer, however, is already looking towards the future and in 1948 has plans to erect the insel-Hotel on the romantic, centrally located Neckar isle called the "Hefenweiler". Construction on this ambitious undertaking begins in 1952 with the opening of a dining terrace and a kiosk.
